PALNET, a Leader in the Pallet Business,
Upholds Strict Hiring Practice Guidelines
VINELAND, NJ -- PALNET, one of the nation’s leading providers of shipping pallets, is an outspoken proponent of strict hiring practices in the pallet industry.
According to Michael Smith, PALNET’s President and Chief Operating Officer, “Though not always adhered to by all members of the pallet industry, we believe it is vital to our clients, our company and the nation-at-large to support and uphold a ‘zero-tolerance’ standard in all our employment practices, especially in these times of heightened security.”
PALNET and all its member companies are strong supporters of best hiring practices and workforce compliance as outlined by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement department of Homeland Security (ICE). They also subscribe to the U.S. Government's IMAGE program, the ICE Mutual Agreement Between Government and Employers. By adhering to these important programs, PALNET and all its affiliate companies are committed to meeting and enforcing the standards set by IMAGE and the U.S. Government.
As part of this program, PALNET uses comprehensive screening tools offered by the government to ensure that all employees are lawfully authorized to work. PALNET processes 1-9 forms; maintains employment records; uses e-Verify, a government on-line employment verification system; and otherwise complies with all U.S. employment laws. “To further ensure these standards, we use an independent third party auditor to monitor the overall employment practices and procedures across the board,” adds Smith.
This is just one of the ways PALNET has committed itself to redefining the pallet business from the ground up. They have taken a loosely organized business and applied new standards of professionalism, accountability, integrity and honesty. “From the way we take an order, to the way we deliver and service, to the way we count our client’s pallets, we offer a totally professional business experience. If a company hasn’t worked with us before, they’ll just have to get used to the improvements," Smith adds.
What’s more, PALNET is a leader in environmental stewardship. Their pallets are among the "greenest" in the industry -- made from the unusable potions of milled lumber and are fully recyclable, reclaimable and repairable. “For many of our clients, we are the greenest link their supply chain,” says Smith.
